Brampton Emergency Response Demonstration Part 1

How Prepared are You

Wellington St. between Main & George was closed Tuesday during the middle of the day for an Emergency Response Demonstration.

The scenario is a car and pick up truck get into a crash. The truck has deadly Chlorine gas tanks which has sprung a leak. Causing for an Emergency Response, a coordinated effort through the Fire Department, Police, and Paramedics. An effort to secure the scene, assess the conditions ie gas leak, rescue any individual who has suffered injuries, and to get them out of arms way and to set up a triage area where paramedics can assess the injuries and to  apply an medical procedure that is required.

After assessing the situation, the firefighters would don decontamination suits, oxygen tanks, in order to try to stem the leak from the gas tanks. Once that is complete the first responders go into a special wash down pool to get hosed and brushed down, to get rid of any biohazardous material.

This is Part 1...more to come
