New Year's Eve In Downtown Brampton
Family Fireworks Explode to the delight of the spectators |
The evening was pleasant, cool but comfortable enough for people wanting to enjoy all the festivities and activities were able to do without dodging the rain drops, bundling up like the abominable snowman, in order to take part. A fitting conclusion for the Christmas season in Brampton, as the weather was rather similar to The Tree Lighting back in November.
Downtown Brampton had plenty of activities for people, families of all ages. Main St was shut down so revelers could walk freely amongst the various venues. At Garden Square, there was plenty of entertainment,
at City Hall lots of activities, including the inflatable igloo in the middle of Ken Williams Square, and the busiest spot at the beginning of the New Year's Celebration was at Gage Park. A bountiful crop of skaters of all ages adorned the park to slither, soar, or coast along the oval track that is a popular attraction throughout the winter in Brampton.

Over at Garden Square,an array of musical entertainment was provided to the abundance of revellers wishing to have a good time to bring in 2017. The Square was packed again, similar to last year as revellers were anxiously waiting for the fireworkers, the entertainment, and to bring in the new year 2017.

Mother, Mother got the place rockin and Jumpin right up to about quarter to twelve midnight.
With minutes to spare for the end of 2016, Mayor Linda Jeffery spoke on the encouraging prospects for 2017. Then it was time for the countdown. At the stroke of midnight the Brampton sky was filled with an electric display of fireworks and laser show to the joyful spectators celebrating the arrival of the new year.
