Art Beat Brampton – Take a Walk on the Art Side
Let's go for a Walk
Art Beat Brampton, Take a walk on the art side was a unique way to show off the talents of some extremely talented and accomplished artists, and at the same time promotes some of the local businesses that are located in Downtown Brampton. An artist was paired with each of the local businesses and in some cases, there were two artists, the event took place on Friday, October 19 and the weather certainly cooperated, no rain or snow, and the temperature was reasonable.
This initiative was spearheaded by Beaux-Art Brampton, sponsored by Downtown Brampton BIA and supported by The City of Brampton. Regan Hayward, Curator, and Director of Beaux-Art Brampton was the coordinator and guide for Art Beat Brampton. Suzy Godefroy Executive Director of Downtown Brampton BIA was also on hand to promote and help guide the tour.
Take a walk on the art side entailed pairing up artists with a downtown business showcasing their remarkable work and in most cases in the process of creating a new piece of art. The event started gathering at Beaux-Art for a meet and greet which included dignitaries such as Brampton South MP Sonya Sidhu, and Councilors Elaine Moore and Jeff Bowman.
.
Some of the artists included Award-winning Michael Brennan, who was busy creating another painting in the window at Beaux-Arts. Another accomplished artist was Kyle Langlois who is from Brampton and has painted several goalie masks and recently at last years, Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang South Korea, the helmet worn by skeleton competitor Barret Martineau, who sailed down the track, sporting a helmet with a roaring grizzly bear, was created by Kyle. Kyle was situated at Herman Custodios Studio and was paired with illustrator and graphic designer Deroy Gordon.
Other artists and businesses included Josephine Condotta was at Dolcezza Custom Cakes, Amanda Busby at Stephan's Furs,
Karen Darling opened up her studio for viewing and demonstrated the cold wax she uses when mixing her paints. Brona Wingell was situated at Brampton Denture Clinic & Wellness Centre; Segovia sported two artists, one being Prabha Madhavan who combines her passion for travel and painting, along with York University graduate April Bhamra who had on display a gorgeous painting of an albino tiger. Rounding out the tour was a stop at Wendel Clark's Classic Grill was Dale Boyd who had on display sports signs he created, which included all the teams Wendel Clark played for.
Art Beat Brampton, which was running alongside The Taste of Brampton which is still going on, was a tremendous way to showcase some of Brampton’s accomplished and talented artists and at the same time promotes the local businesses in the downtown core of Brampton. It certainly was a walk on the art side.
The Outstanding Art Work
Art Beat Brampton was truly an enlightening experience that would be recommended to do again. A great way to promote some of our outstanding artists here in Brampton and a chance to visit and talk to the various merchants in the downtown core.
