The weekend of November 18-20th in downtown Brampton was a beacon of activity and people were into a festive mood. As the City of Brampton was transformed into a Christmas Village, as Brampton kicked off the Christmas season
The whole thing kicked off on Friday with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting which took place at 6:30 at Ken Williams Square as Mayor Linda Jeffreys and children from a local school to help turn on 13,ooo lights on the large spruce tree which was donated by The Brampton Rotary Club.

There was plenty to do and see throughout the evening's activities, which included a Kids Zone located in a beautifully lighted Gage Park. At Ken Williams Square, on hand was live entertainment, and ice sculpting. Magnificent white horse drawn carriages were available for anyone wanting to take a tour of the downtown. The carriage rides will be available throughout the Christmas season.

Besides the Tree Lighting at City Hall, as you take a walk north up Main Street to Garden Square, The Square was a beehive of activity as The Annual Christmas Market was in full swing.

Later on in the evening there was a Chainsaw Ice Sculpting competition. The saws were buzzing, the ice was a shivering and flying, as the competitors, dressed in hockey jerseys,
carved, and chipped away at their blocks of ice to transform their block into something special
A huge crowd was on hand for the competition. It was emceed with comedy and encouragement for the competitors.
On the other side of the scale, we also had a flame thrower on hand. A guy really shooting his mouth off.

Below is a YouTube Video from the performance.
The event was well attended and the weather behaved. Snow would have made it seem more like Christmas, but there were no complaints all round.
