Icy Walks in Brampton

Be Very Careful

  Ouch!!!

Brampton residents be extra careful while walking along the sidewalks, streets, parking lots in your daily persuits.  Although the ground may seem to be just wet, especially with the mild temperatures. But that leads to a lacking sense of security that can lead to painful conclusions.

The freezing drizzle, plus the melting snow has left some spots with a sheet of ice that if not paying attention while walking is very slippery and a devastating fall occurs.  Most roads, streets, and sidewalks have been salted but in some areas the ice forms again and you do not notice it until your feet are up in the air and shouting an expletive.

 for all the world to hear.

Case in point as the author of  Brampton Bits & Bites can attest to. Twice within twelve hours. Once at the corner of Queen & Kennedy, the author slipped and landed on his tush, a little painful but more embarrassement than anything.  However this morning while walking along John St. in front of  The New Peel Memorial Centre on the North side, another slip occurred  but this time a whole lot more harrowing, as the author ended up landing rather heavily square on his back causing excruciating pain, so much so that he had to get it looked at at Brampton Civic this morning

At Brampton Civic Hospital, there were several other patients who had slipped and fell, which goes to show you have to be extra diligent while walking around Brampton.

Enjoy the mild temperatures while they last because Winter is far from over and the cold & snow is bound to return.  In the mean time be extra careful while out and about in Brampton, as the author can attest to, getting seriously hurt is not fun, not fun at all.
