Music for the Heavenly Soul

On a very pleasant evening, not too hot, and with a calm gentle breeze, what can be more uplifting and inspiring than some nice music to soothe the soul, but Inspirational Music at Gage Park. On a beautiful Summer Solstice Night, Tuesday June 21 in Gage Park the start of Music in the Park with Inspirational Music began their summer long Tuesday night to a well-attended and spiritual audience.

The first Tuesday night featured 5 musical performers, Dave Brown on trumpet, a new act followed with Kennedy Iden (see separate blog re: Kennedy) who is a Pastor at Mercy Arena Ministries, who is also a gospel singer, then The Salvation Army Band followed, then The Kennedy Road Tabernacle Choir, and lastly, Dave Francis, who sang with love of god in his heart and soul.

Dave Brown kicked off the evening, by blowing the Shofar horn used for religious gatherings, then promptly followed that with the sweetest most soothing trumpet playing that was heaven sent for the ears, it truly was, especially in a park like setting made it even more enchanting.
Following Dave Brown, a new addition to the evening's schedule was Kennedy Iden and as mentioned, he is a Pastor for Mercy Arena Ministries that conduct their services at The Marigold Hotel on Queen Street in Brampton. Kennedy is also a gospel singer and performs with a band called Triumphant Troop. He is also publisher and editor of Afro Caribe Magazine. Kennedy was originally going to sing just one number, but he did such an outstanding and uplifting job with his first song “Jesus Is the Key, the organizers asked that he perform another song.

The Salvation Army Band was next performing for the appreciative audience a selection of their most popular numbers. The Salvation Army is new to Inspirational Music this year and is a very welcome addition and besides the music, they provided a tent and counselors available to help anyone wanting or needing prayers and or comfort. They also provided the refreshments.
The next group of performers was the Kennedy Road Tabernacle Choir who got the audience up off their seats and got everyone moving and praying with the music. A wonderful performance with amazing voices to enhance the inner feeling and to get the audience involved.
To round out the evening was singer Dave Francis, who most people know as the greeter at Walmart, and can do many impersonations, sang a very moving and uplifting selection of inspiring songs which capped off the evening to a rousing success.

Many of the evening’s performers will be returning for another Tuesday night, which includes Kennedy, who really took the audience by storm. Not only with is inspiring and uplifting songs, but also his devotion to god, and giving a thundering sermon prior to “Jesus Is the Key”, to a pleasing group of listeners.

For the first night, the attendance was well attended, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. So for the next few Tuesday nights, and if you need a little bit of uplifting, inspiration, but just plain soulful music, please come on down to Gage Park and be a part of a very special evening. Soothe the heart and soul and it sure beats watching boring reruns, or maddening news from CNN.
